It all begins with the call of a horn.

It is the opening of Carl Maria von Weber’s Oberon Overture and also the beginning of the Autumn Concert 2026, which will open the new season of ICNT – I Concerti nel Tempio on Saturday 19 September.

On the stage of the Waldensian Church in Piazza Cavour will be the ICNT Orchestra, pianist Alessandro Marano and conductor Daniele Camiz.

The programme brings together two very different works.

The Oberon Overture comes from the world of theatre. It begins as though from a distance, gradually gathers the orchestra and then accelerates into music filled with movement, changing colours and momentum.

Johannes Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15, has a more troubled history. Brahms began working on it when he was just over twenty and continued reshaping it for several years. It started as a sonata for two pianos, then became the project for a symphony, before finally taking the form of a concerto.

The piano does not simply stand in front of the orchestra. It enters into a close dialogue with it, at times forceful and at times intimate. In the central movement, time seems to stand still; in the finale, the music regains its energy and moves in a new direction.

The Autumn Concert opens the 2026/27 ICNT season and is presented in collaboration with the “Franz Liszt” Friends of the Piano Association and the Cosenza Symphony Orchestra, whose principal oboe will join the ICNT Orchestra as a guest musician.

The concert will take place on Saturday 19 September at 8.00 pm, at the Waldensian Church in Piazza Cavour, Rome.

Admission is free, subject to availability. Reservations are free and help us organise the reception of the audience, but they do not assign a specific seat.

The concert will also be livestreamed on YouTube: watch it here, where you can also set a reminder.
